Why am I attracted to nerds/shy boys?

They are so amicable and seraphic. The problem is that they don't ever want to make a move because they are too timid. I am an honors student, but I am not extremely smart. I am not as good-looking as my brother but he is a model and I don't think I am ugly. My friends say that I won't get asked out by them because the guys think they are "out of my league", which is totally not true at all. I get asked out a lot by not "my type". I'm a Junior in high school, if that matters. Thanks for your help!
